fMRI Moves Further Into the Clinical Arena:
OHBM Offers Clinical fMRI Course at HBM 2007

It is an exciting time for fMRI! In response to the newly approved CPT codes to report procedures associated with fMRI including pre-surgical planning, the OHBM has added a one-day workshop on Clinical fMRI to the Education Program on Sunday, June 10. This course will detail approaches to clinical fMRI for language, motor and more complex functional mapping by presenting case examples and practical demonstrations of analysis approaches, image integration, interpretation of results, and intraoperative validation. DTI and fiber track mapping in relation to fMRI will be discussed along with ways to integrate these data for neurosurgeons.

A "team approach" will be emphasized and the speakers will include neuropsychologists, a neuroradiologist and a neurosurgeon. The speakers are Steve Rao (Neuropsychologist, MCW/Cleveland Clinic), Susan Bookheimer (Neuropsychologist, UCLA), Brad Buchbinder (Neuroradiologist, MGH), Andreas Bartsch (Neuroradiologist, Wurzburg), and Itzhak Fried, (Neurosurgeon, UCLA).

The Clinical fMRI educational workshop has been designed for neuroradiologists, neurospychologists, neurologists and similar professionals who wish to perform clinical fMRI's. Please see the attached schedule for a detailed description of the course.

The course will be held Sunday, June 10 at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel and Towers. Registration fees are $150 for students, $250 for OHBM members and $350 for non-members. Questions? Contact us at info@humanbrainmapping.org.
